BIOMETRIC INFORMATION: WHAT WE KEEP AND WHEN WE DESTROY IT
Voiceprints, and why we hold none
Last updated: July 13, 2026
What this policy covers
A voiceprint is a mathematical representation of the way a particular person speaks, used to recognize that person again. Illinois law treats it as biometric information and requires any company that holds it to publish, in advance, how long it keeps it and when it destroys it. This is that document.
It is written to bind us whether or not we ever collect a voiceprint, so that the schedule exists before the collection could, rather than after.
What we hold today
Today: nothing. OnKeiDo does not create, collect, or store voiceprints. The consent setting that would permit it cannot be turned on — not by us, and not by a member who asks for it. It is disabled in the system itself, and it stays disabled until the deletion machinery described below is built and tested.
We are stating this plainly because the alternative — collecting a voiceprint first and building the way to delete it afterwards — is how a company ends up holding something it promised to destroy and cannot.
How long we would keep it
If OnKeiDo ever collects a voiceprint, it is kept only for the purpose the member agreed to, and it is destroyed at whichever of these comes FIRST: (a) the purpose has been satisfied; (b) the member withdraws their agreement; (c) the member closes their account; or (d) three years have passed since their last interaction with us.
A member can withdraw at any time, for any reason, without explaining. Withdrawal starts the destruction, it does not merely stop future collection.
How destruction works
Destruction means the voiceprint and anything derived from it that could reconstruct it are removed from our live systems and from our backups on the backup rotation. It is recorded when it happens, so we can show that it did.
The one exception, and we will not pretend otherwise: if we are under a legal hold — a court or a law requires us to preserve something — destruction waits until the hold lifts, and then it proceeds. We do not promise a deletion deadline that a court can override.
What we never do with it
We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric information. We do not disclose it except where a member consents in writing, where it completes a transaction the member requested, or where a law or a valid legal process requires it.
